Research on Hydrima'tir, the Gold Dragon of Atlas
Info on Dragon
Hydrima'tir found Atlas of his own accord in 419. Normally obscured to outsiders, the bronze dragon was drawn to the isle. Perhaps he was able to smell something imperceptible to common folk. Some dragons, you see, are attracted to both coin and knowledge. Particularly, they enjoy moral quandaries and judgement.
Hydrima'tir arrived as a mere fledgling. It is unclear where he came from, as the young creature himself didn't seem to remember. It was believed he was orphaned and left his homeland in search of safety. Realizing the value of a draconic ally, the Visitors allowed him to stay on the island. They made one of the Stones of Kano Sall available to Hydrima'tir, who turned it into his lair over the course of the next few years. Eventually, he expressed interest in the Hall of Judgement. A deal was later struck. In cases in which a jury or judge can not reach a final, unanimous decision, Hydrima'tir would have the final say. It was believed that he had a strong, impartial moral compass that would act as the final word in such cases. Initially, Hydrima'tir's judgement over cases occurred frequently. He was regarded as a fair judge for his first 2 years. But in 423, he oversaw a decision on a high ranking member of the Visitors that saw High Arcanist Iloris Valenti put to death. The case shocked the campus, but because Hydrima'tir's word was law, the mage was sentenced to death and executed just days later. The case caused an uproar among the people of the island, who desired to see Hydrima'tir removed from his position. No such change ever occurred, but juries and judges have since been far more cautious about leaving cases to the dragon. In the last year, just 2 cases have gone to Hydrima'tir, who spends most days in his lair or patrolling the island.
