Research on The Lost Queen
The Lost Queen
When the Raven Queen rose to power, her people put their combined faith into her as a leader. In doing so, they assisted her in ascending beyond her mortal body. Another queen objected to this, however. Dubbed "The Lost Queen", she ruled over an adjacent kingdom in the Shadowfell. She didn't trust that the Raven Queen could handle the responsibility and the high level of power that came with ascension. She felt she was more fitting of the role, and attempted to rally her people to overthrow the Raven Queen. But she was unsuccessful. She was deemed dangerous by the Raven Queen following her ascension and was dealt with swiftly.
The Raven Queen is said to have crafted a number of shadow weapons. Followers of the Lost Queen began producing artifacts of their own to rival the Raven Queen's efforts. When the Raven Queen grew angry with the attempt for her throne, she banished the Lost Queen and trapped her essence across multiple artifacts. Over the years, her following waned. Her legend was lost to time and the Raven Queen reigned supreme over the Shadowfell.
This was the tale told in the dingy taverns across Brymstone for years. But some researchers have noted the Lost Queen's resurgence in recent years. Several travelers reported speaking to an entity through a weapon that they came across in ruins from the Shimmering Sands to the Eldertide forests. It seems the Lost Queen's only contact with the mortal world was through chance encounters with passing adventurers who came across one of the few artifacts she was bound to. One by one, she is said to have bestowed a fragment of her power to those who agreed to serve her.
If these tales are to be believed, then it is possible that the Lost Queen is on the rise once more. Perhaps she wishes to take what she believes to be her throne.
