Velreas Syleinos
The holder of the title Velreas Syleinos (VelNos) is the head leader of the aurora river pilgrimage and is a religious leader of highest ability ability and held in the greatest of esteem. They are the sole person with rights and authority equal to leader of The Church of Cliridizaun and are an independent entity beholden only to themselves so long as they act in accordance to the churches laws and rules.
A person may hold the title VelNos for any length of time as there are no set time limits for their service. When a person loses their title it is usually due to retirement, death or because the church council and leader have collectively decided them incapable of fulfilling their duties. They may be forcefully stripped of their title if they have been convicted of a felony or blasphemous act. Their layoff may be challenged by the holder and if the issue still isn't solved a referendum may be held amongst the people in the churches governed territories.
While there is no set time limit for ownership of the title, there are restrictions in place.
- There may be only one holder of the title at any given time.
- The holder of the title may only serve one term and as such may only lay claim to it until it has been passed on to the next holder.
- Once the title has been given away it may not be reclaimed under any circumstance no matter the cause of loss.
- After their term has been fulfilled they may lay claim to the title LysVelReas out of respect of their past service, so long as the cause of their retirement wasn't the result of a convicted offence.
Requirements
As the leader of the great pilgrimages any holder of the title is expected to have complete knowledge of the scriptures and faith as well as the tenets of the church. In order to guide the pilgrims and other travelers they must have strong communication skills in at least 5 languages, preferably more, respect and empathy for others as well as knowledge of other cultures and traditions built through both study and experience.
The passage itself is a dangerous one and the title holder must be able to survive to it, requiring strong health and fitness levels and a range of practical skills. Most holders are good fighters but some prefer to depend on their guards.

The title holds a different function but it's weight is similar to a Pope or Dalai Lama. While the titled person has a similar authority their role is unique which makes it difficult to compare to other known titles, to students eternal ire. The closest comparison there is to their role and duties is that of a psychopomp, guiding and protecting wandering souls along deaths path.
