Cai Allanar (KYE aal-UH-narr)
Government
Cai Allanar is ruled by the Baron of Ardor Lake, who oversees both the legislation of the barony as well as the city proper.
Though they aren't government officials, the vast majority of the farmers, artisans, small business owners, and general laborers of the city have formed a union, and the leaders and speakers of said union hold a sizeable amount of influence over both the community and the local government.
Industry & Trade
The expansive agriculture of Cai Allanar means that the city's main export is its fresh produce, as well as artisan goods made from them. In addition, Ardor Lake itself is known as an ideal destination for holidays, relatively warm year-round with a beautiful clear-water lake, many nobles have vacation homes along its far shore-- and a fair few more take advantage of this fact to rent cabins to visitors. This leads to the city having an above-average number of businesses that act as event venues, tourist attractions, restaurants, and inns.
Assets
The city has a relatively small city center, surrounded by a large expanse of farmland. Farmland in the old elven tradition, which fluctuates to make best use of the natural cycles of nutrients in the soil that follow the growth of particular crops, so it may not always look the way we would expect farmland to look due to differences in cultivation. As with elven farming practices, this is as always followed by a strong presence of wineries and a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
In addition, Cai Allanar sits on the shore of Ardor Lake itself-- the large crystal clear lake acting as a water source for the city with its source rivers feeding the farms, as well as adding aesthetic value to the area.
Guilds and Factions
The largest faction of any kind in the city is the Labor Union-- they do exactly what you would expect, demanding fair treatment and compensation for the farmers, entertainment industry, and other laborers that compose the local workforce.
In opposition to the Labor Union is the nobility and employees of House Ilthodra, who find themselves harried and badgered by the union about many of their policies and actions. This is the major social and political conflict in Cai Allanar
History
Cai Allanar is one of the oldest still-inhabited cities in Stella-Sylvaire. Originally a small farming and fishing village, it's seclusion and self-sufficiency allowed it to survive almost untouched by the conflicts between the Star-Crossed Kingdoms before they reached the peaceful alliance they have today. It's grown exponentially in recent centuries with the help of its beautiful sights in combination with ever-improving planar travel bringing in tourists.
Tourism
There's lots of it! Ardor Lake is beautiful, broad sandy shores and glassy clear water, with cabins and summer homes lining the far shore. The surrounding forest and river plains are equally beautiful and balmy year round, with many scenic vineyards and grottos that make for popular wedding venues and picnic spots. Local business has taken advantage of the visitors, resulting in thriving restaurants, shops selling all manner of curious knickknacks, buskers and hired bards playing nearly everywhere, even the city's stables and liveries thrive given the popularity of carriage tours around the sprawling region.
Architecture
Cai Allanar follows it's Sylvari influences very closely, with many of it's buildings making use of the sweeping-graceful silhouettes typical of Sylvari architecture. The city tends toward a motley mix of genuinely old buildings, new buildings replicating antiquated architecture, modern buildings, and old buildings renovated in a more modern style, lending the city center a very strong Sylvari aesthetic but a very unique identity within that.
