Minerva Myrrilium

Minerva Myrrilium, the great aunt of Queen Atrya of Daria, is a figure shrouded in a tumultuous past, marked by both emotional vulnerability and a transformation that left her a mere echo of her former self. In her childhood, Minerva was a highly emotional child, her feelings directly linked to her tear ducts, earning her the nickname of a "cry baby." At the tender age of seven, she was sent to Xethens to study magic, a journey that would shape her life in ways she could not foresee.   The transition to Xethens proved overwhelming for young Minerva, and her emotional outbursts posed challenges for her instructors. In an attempt to control her "hysterical tendencies," her elven guardians made the drastic decision to lobotomize her. The procedure left her emotionally stunted, her once vibrant range of emotions reduced to a mere shadow of its former self, leaving her unable to empathize with others. With her emotional outbursts brought under control, Minerva's instructors praised her as a model student. Her prowess in the magical arts and her exceptional understanding of medicine became apparent at a young age, far exceeding her years.   Ironically, despite her innate talent in magic, Minerva harbors deep-seated disdain for the arcane arts, a lingering result of her traumatic experiences in Xethens. Moreover, the abuse she suffered at the hands of the elves instilled a profound distrust and contempt for non-human races, further isolating her from the world around her.   Upon turning 21, Minerva was finally released from the custody of the elves in Xethens and permitted to return home. There, she assumed the role of Grand Maester, serving her elder sister Demi and later her niece Ava. When tragedy struck and her niece Atrya found herself in need of guidance and care, Minerva stepped into the role of both guardian and proxy, shouldering the responsibilities of running the kingdom and raising the young princess.   Minerva's emotionally detached upbringing influenced her approach to raising Atrya, and it is not surprising that the young princess would exhibit a limited range of emotion in her formative years. As Atrya grew, Minerva became her steadfast mentor, preparing her for her future role as queen.   When the time came for Atrya to ascend the throne, Minerva gracefully stepped aside, allowing her niece to take control of the kingdom without contest. However, her animosity towards Atrya's husband, Artur Draconis-Myrrilium, runs deep. Minerva frowns upon the circumstances surrounding the conception of Atrya's eldest daughter, Audrielle, and resents the fact that Artur hails from another country and is of a different race.   Minerva Myrrilium's life has been marked by emotional turmoil, sacrifice, and a deep-seated resentment that colors her relationships and perspectives. While she remains a formidable presence in the kingdom, her tumultuous past continues to shape her character and actions, adding layers of complexity to her role as a mentor and guardian to the royal family of Daria.
