The Louthian Purity Commission
The Louthian Purity Commission was an infamous ministry of the Louthian Empire, operating from 1413 until the Empire's destruction in 1633.
Charged with pursuing the "purity of humanity within the realms of the Empire", the Purity Commission maintained the propaganda program that was distributed to all humans living and working within the borders of the Louthian Empire, as well as the creation and enforcement of laws that would oppress all non-human sapients that resided or traveled within the Empire's borders. To this extent, a paramilitary wing of the Purity Commission, properly called the Purity Corps, was created and endorsed by the Imperial Senate.
The Purity Commission and its associated Corps were brutally destroyed by Lord Ernest Mitfield, King Carlton Strixel, and Commander Victor Dennes of the Sherland 4th Mechanized Brigade, in the closing days of the Louthian War. Their officers and chiefs of staff were captured and put to trial by the Kingdom of Sherland for the unlawful murder of its citizens, before being turned over to the newly formed Kingdom of Mithambe to face sentencing for their crimes against the non-humans of Louthia. Most of the head officers and chiefs, expecting to be let off with mercy because of their noble heritage, found themselves in disbelief as they were led away to gallows to be hung, not realizing that most of the peerage that supported their xenocidal ideas were among the dead.
Despite the thorough destruction of the Purity Commission, its toxic ideology that humans should reign even at the expense of those who also possess sapience runs through the Louthian people, and has left to persistent problems regarding racial tensions and xenophobia-fueled violence in the present day.
Public Agenda
The Purity Commission's public agenda was as follows:
- Tp uphold the Empire's belief that humanity must prevail first and foremost;
- To enforce the laws of the Empire that will bring the most benefit to humanity;
- To educate the common man about the policies that will bring him greatness.
History
Shortly before the outbreak of rebellion and the starting strokes of the Louthian War, the Purity Commission was also in charge of establishing the systematic dismantling of known non-human settlements, either through re-location or through natural extermination via targeted biological warfare. Re-located non-humans were to be shuffled into labor camps, where their skills would be used to further the prosperity of the Empire without any form of compensation. These forced migrations were performed through 1592 all the way through 1624.
As the Louthian War raged on and the entire continent was engulfed in the fighting, the Purity Commission was placed in charge of the labor camps, including camps designated for prisoners of war, in order to bolster manufacturing for wartime goods. At the same time, camps that were set up for the purpose of ultimate extermination were being constructed along the southern edge of the continent, and prisoners were being sent in rail cars towards them, guarded by soldiers affiliated with the Purity Corps. The first of these death engines would be constructed and operational in 1618, and remained in operation until the Empire's collapse in 1633.
In 1616, allegations of dwarves and elves aligned with the Sherland Medical Corps being executed by the Louthian Purity Corps turned the Louthian War from a localized conflict to a global-spanning conflict, with the Kingdom of Sherland forefront at seeking to punish or destroy the Louthian Empire for shedding the blood of its citizens. Notably, the Fencoverian Empire lifted no finger in assistance to the Louthian Empire, declaring that Emperor Marian Frait led himself into this meat grinder, and that he must either see himself and his empire out of it, or face final destruction with some semblance of dignity. The Fifth Intercession forces proceeded from mere combat containment to active engagement with hostile Louthian Empire forces.
Disbandment
The Purity Commission was less disbanded and more slaughtered to the man when its headquarters was besieged and invaded by Lord Ernest Mitfield and his men in 1632. The fanatical officers of the Purity Corps were expecting to fight famished Atxian and Inaran peasants, but were instead set upon by grim-faced veterans of the deadliest years of fighting, and who were armed to the teeth with the latest weapons and advancements that the Atxi were all too happy to demonstrate.
Mitfield's co-leader, Carlton Strixel, ordered the headquarters of the Purity Commission and its colors incinerated with conjured flames, and the ashes unceremoniously dumped into the Vinesian Ocean. In this way, no monument to the ideological butchers of the Louthian Empire would remain, except for the ugly shadows of the extermination camps they have liberated.
With the liberation of Camp Tifflither in 1633 and the capture/execution of its officers and guards, the Purity Commission was no more.
