Nikkan Infestation - One Shot

In the bustling city of Elsgard, one building in the merchant district has been abadoned and sealed shut due to an infestation of Nikkan. Infected wooden objects possessed by pure chaotic energy. The party have been hired by the mayor to clear it out before these creatures spread across the city.
 

Room 1: Reception

  • Dimly lit, cold room
  • A dusty desk faces the front door, with a tucked in chair behind it (Hidden in one of the drawers is a set of keys to the Boss' office and store room)
  • A plant pot in the corner of the room with a dry drooping plant sat inside
  • Curtains slowly moving from a crack in the window
  • A wooden door on the north wall with a flickering light coming poking from the bottom
 

Room 2: Office Floor

  • Table and chairs lined on the back wall, one table knocked over with papers on the floor, one chair with broken legs
  • A broken lantern with glass near the East wall
  • Cobwebs in the corners of the room
  • A pile of burnt books near the door on the West wall (Hidden in the pile is a love letter between two office workers)
  • Solid oak door on the West wall with a frosted glass pane (locked)
  • Wooden door on the East wall (locked)   4 x Nikkan (Torches)
    • 2 dancing on tables, swinging their lit heads about
    • 1 jumping up and down on the pile of burnt books
    • 1 standing in front of the door the party just entered from looking slightly bewildered
     

    Room 3: Boss' Office

    • A dull painting of the boss behind his large desk (Hidden in the drawers is 27 gold)
    • A leatherbound book of numbers open on the desk
    • An unlit candle to the left with an empty bottle of wine to the right of the desk
    • A bookshelf covering the North wall with a layer of dust covering them all
    • A mini gong hangs on the South wall
      2 x Nikkan (Gong Beater, Pencil)
    • The gong beater is jumping up to hit the gong
    • The pencil is drawing on the walls
     

    Room 4: Storage Room

    • Stacks of crates dotted around the edges of the dark room
    • Barrels placed in the South East corner (Hidden behind the barrels is a hatch that leads to the basement)
      3 x Nikkan (1 x Barrel, 2 x Mops)
    • The Barrel is being knocked between the two mops
    • Inside the barrel is a scroll of fire protection rattling around
     

    Room 5: The Basement

    • A large, long and dark room
    • A ladder runs down the West wall
    • In the centre of the room is a sturdy table with a Wood Golem sleeping on top
    • In the South East corner is a table with various papers and books open, unlit candles have fallen on the floor (Hidden in the pile is a scroll of summoning Nikkan)
    • Above the table is a pair of chains, one wrapped around the golem, the other broken
    • On the North wall is splatters of dried blood
      1 x Wood Golem
    • The golem is asleep, it will stay asleep until the party fail a stealth roll
    • If the golem awakens, it is chained. Unable to move and has only one arm free to attack
     

    Epilogue:

    If the party survive the infestation they are able to return to the mayor and get rewarded100 gold each for clearing up the issue. Their reputation in the city grows as newcoming heroes, which draws the attention of the citizens as well as the big bad lurking in the shadows.   if the party are able to obtain the scroll of summoning Nikkan, they have the ability to summon a Nikkan spirit to infest one wooden object (tiny to medium size) at the time of casting the spell written on the scroll. The scroll is a one time use so use wisely.
