Shara's String Quartet
Shara, Acuran of Music. Known across the lands as the greatest musician, composer and lyrical genius knwojn throughout all of history. Her music spoke to the people like it was a language all could understand, her incantations were unmatched when sang and a master on every instrument she lay her hands on.
That's where our legend starts today, with the String Quartet of Shara. You see, many star cycles ago Shara walked the world of Violem. Spreading her musical joy any and all that could hear. Doing so led her to explore new themes and genres of music, learn and create new instruments for her collection and when she found an exceptionally excellent musician, she would gift them with an instrument of their choice. This led to many bards and musicians becoming part of Shara's Orchestra, a title granted to those who wield one of her creations. Whilst there are many throughout history, by far the most well known is the string quartet.
Made with the finest unbreakable strings, aura induced woods and crafted by the hands of Shara herself. These generators of harmony were perhaps the most powerful instruments in all of Violem. The quartet itself is made up of The Lyra, The Lute, The Vielle & The Harp, not a common combination by today's standard. But when these played in sync they were capable of amplifying the magic, emotions and power of the musicians who performed with them. It is believed that one was to aquire all 4 instruments once more and play at Shara's symphony hall and perform the correct piece of music. That they could bring the spirit of Shara back to the mortal plane.
The instruments themselves are still powerful artefacts from a previous time with magical abilities. When played by a proficient musician, the instruments can act like an amplifier to a sorcerer's powers. These tools of music also seem to have an innate connection to the performer's mind, extending out the emotion they are feeling at the time of performance. This emotional wave can be felt and even intoxicate a nearby audience, putting under some kind of trance. Whether that is an overwhelming sense of joy, sadness or anger.
To any bard, the legend of the String Quartet is common knowledge and even many young sorcerers may know the name Shara from children's tales and storybooks. But as to the location of the string quartet, and all the other instruments, is a fact lost to time. We may never find all the instruments again, some may have been broken or dismantled long ago. But perhaps, the instruments were past down generation after generation and ended up in the hands of musicians once more.
