Primus Lucianus Albium
Primus Lucianus Albium is the current head of the Rinti Confederation Council and Senate.
Albium had a stellar military career in the Shining Legions prior to being elected as head of the Senate. Raised in a wealthy military family, Lucianus expected to follow in the footsteps of his father Legate Manius Albium. He received private tutoring from an early age that prepared him to enroll in a command-track position when he came of age for military service. While in training, he became fast friends with a young half-elf named Haldarus Salvium, who would later become his bitter rival.
Albium rose quickly through the ranks, was accepted into the Shining Legions after his mandatory years of service, and made a name for himself by clearing out feral sections of the Wotash Territories and rebuffing a goblin invasion from Grattik. He married a girl from a high-class family named Valaria Rullum, who encouraged him to manage his military career with the intention of going into politics.
After thirty years in the military, Albium became a Legate and earned a seat on the Senate. There he found that his old friend, Haldarus Salvium, had already been elected as a Senator from Rintivus and was considered a front-runner for the position of Primus. Under pressure from his wife to pursue the position himself, and believing that he would be a more effective leader than Salvium, Albium began to gather his own faction of supporters. When Primus Risus Gladium died (killed by one of his personal guards, who was subsequently executed), the Senate was split between support for the two former friends. Haldarus Salvium had a slight advantage, it seemed, until a scandalous report was published accusing him of romantic entanglements with Minder elves and unpatriotic leanings. The Senate then quickly confirmed Lucianus Albium as Primus. Salvium denied the accusations, and blamed Albium for his loss. Since then, the half-elf has worked to undermine Albium in any way possible - for the good of the Rinti Confederation, of course.
In his tenure as Primus, Albium has worked to strengthen the military, invested in new magical solutions to military problems, and redoubled efforts to make safe the roads and major settlements in all the Confederation. With a forceful personality, he is determined to lead the Rinti Confederation through force of will and show of strength. He has raised taxes and enforced justice swiftly and harshly on any who break the law. While not loved by most in the Confederation, even his many enemies acknowledge that he is an effective and fair ruler. The one area of weakness he is known to have is his wife: he has been prone to grant favors to her friends and kin beyond their deserts, and many believe Valaria is responsible for most of his non-military strategy and policy.
