General Tone
VISCERIUM has the capability to house any and all types of stories within it. To balance this and provide some consistency, all stories told within this universe should adhere to the meaning of VISCERIUM as defined above. In short, they should be gritty whilst also providing some comedic relief where appropriate. Laughter, shock and sometimes tears - Intense emotions are at the core of a VISCERIUM story.
VISCERIUM should not feel depressing, but instead feel unforgiving, ruthless, dynamic and complex. There is room for vibrant stories and wonder, room for love and heroism. But there is also room for devastation and sudden loss, room for small mistakes to have dire consequences.

In tone?
- Morally clear-cut or simplistic: Resist portraying characters and conflicts in a black-and-white manner. Moral ambiguity and shades of grey should characterise the dilemmas faced by individuals within VISCERIUM, adding depth and complexity to the storytelling.
- About escapism or wish fulfilment: Resist portraying the setting as a utopia or idealised fantasy realm where problems are easily solved or conflicts quickly resolved. Instead, embrace the harsh realities and challenges inherent to each era of VISCERIUM.
- Devoid of hope: While the tone of VISCERIUM may be dark and oppressive, it should not be devoid of all hope. Characters may cling to fleeting moments of optimism or strive for a better future, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
- Predictable or formulaic: Resist falling into clichés or predictable storytelling tropes. Keep audiences on their toes by subverting expectations and introducing unexpected twists and turns in the narrative.
- Emotionally detached or apathetic: Ensure that the tone of VISCERIUM resonates with audiences on an emotional level, eliciting visceral reactions and engaging their empathy. Avoid narratives that feel detached or indifferent to the struggles and triumphs of the characters.
- Overly fantastical or whimsical: While elements of the supernatural or occult may be present, avoid veering into fantastical realms that diminish the grounded and gritty tone of the setting. Maintain a balance between realism and mysticism to keep the tone consistent and immersive.
