Prism Links
Invented in the late Heroic Age, Prism Links are devices made for long-range communication that took off much quicker than expected. Built from special Knowledge Prismatics only mined from the hills of Oshor, Prism Links are rare and expensive, but in very high demand.
Origins
When knowledge of Prismatics began to spread across the world, an Oshorian Arcanist discovered that a certain type of Knowledge Prismatic could echo simple sentences back to the speaker. They figured out how to amplify this technology, and allow it to record whole conversations, which could be stored an indefinite amount of time. After sharing their discovery with other Arcanists, Prism Links began to develop.
Development
The Arcanists quickly realized the magic potential stored inside the crystals, and unlocked a special form of Dimensional Magic: communication over long distances. The sudden ability to transmit words and images over great lengths of land changed how the cities of Oshor worked, and opened the country to communication with the rest of Visctheria. The communicators came to be known as Prism Links, and proved to be a significant advantage in times of war and peace across the world.
Impact
Prism Links, as a successful effort at long-range communication between countries, allowed even normal citizens to keep contact with people on the other side of the world. Used throughout the remainder of the Heroic Age and during the Golden Age to find survivors, Prism Links were eventually incorporated into the structure of the Orbital Rings, allowing for interlevel instant communication.
Use in Visctheria
During the Uspatan Occupation of Oshor, the communicators became useful tools not only for the revolutionary force, but for the occupying soldiers as well. While the military forces inhabited the tiny cities, the technology of Prism Links was widely distributed to Uspatan's political allies around Visctheria, leading to a jump forward in communications technologies and many inventions from Arcanists from several cultures.

Nifty! I love hearing about how long-distance communication develops in fantasy, sci-fi, and otherwise speculative fiction worlds.
Thank you! I had to science this out for TTRPG purposes so I'm excited to see it grow!
