Blue Steel
Blue Steel is a blacksmith run by the dwarf known as Krommir Flintchin. While most blacksmiths in The Beacon perform their work in a large building filled with forges known as the Forge House, Blue Steel is unique in that it has its own forge on its premises. Blue Steel's structure was built around the first forge built in The Beacon during the first year. The forge itself has been deconstructed and rebuilt multiple times to accommodate the increasing demand of The Beacon's forces, and the current iteration allows Krommir and his workers to work simultaneously. During peak work hours, the back area of the shop can become unbearably hot to anyone other than the dwarves that spend their days there. Blue Steel's name comes from the faint blue coloring of the steel produced by Krommir's forging process. The recipe is kept a close secret, bound only to Krommir and those who commit themselves to him. These blue arms are strong and durable, and are easily recognizable to anyone who has ever seen one in The Beacon. Due to reasons known only to Krommir, the forge is only able to make a portion of its weapons and armor using this unique forging process - some shortage or obstruction prevents them from creating blue steel every time.
Blue Steel has a power shaft. The power shaft is used to power a hammering mechanism. After ingots are heated up and placed on the anvil, a blacksmith can align a hammer that uses the constant rotational energy of the power shaft to consistently hammer the ingot. This allows the blacksmith to focus on aligning the hammer instead of aiming and powering the blows, and considerably improved the quality of life for any blacksmith working in Blue Steel.
The following items can be purchased at Blue Steel, and similar items may be available for purchase or commission:
Simple melee weapons, martial melee weapons, metal armor. Metal objects such as chains, locks, lockboxes, trap mechanisms, horseshoes, poles, etc. Items from the Player's Handbook that you could generally expect to be purchased at a blacksmith.
Unusual requests are better asked of a different blacksmith, as Krommir has much of his time filled with orders from those at The Beacon. If one were to purchase a custom wheelbarrow or a trapped metal door, they should seek out another metalcrafter artisan who would be willing to spend time on such a project. Of course, if Krommir is a friend or thinks highly of you, he may be willing to personally make it for you and put it ahead of his normal orders, but Dwarves are famously stubborn and hard to impress.
