Elderman

An Elderman is a leading figure of a small settlement, similar to a mayor. The elderman has complete authority over a settlement but is usually subject to a higher authority of a larger region or organization. At certain times, there can be more than one Elderman with equal authority in charge of a settlement, such as a council of eldermen. These people are usually sages of old age, elected or chosen by the people for their wisdom.
