The Ages of Vitallia

Age of the Hunter (1st Age)

The First Age was marked by the Great War. It was a unique time of creation and destruction. It started with the discovery of the planet from outer forces and ended with the conclusion of a war of unimaginable scale. During these years, Vitallia was drenched in blood, as the Great War affected every creature in existence. For the people of Vitallia who were thrown into battle from the dawn of their creation, the experience was stigmatizing. Those who survived the Great War earned a place in Vitallia’s history, as some of them rose to positions of power. They even lived long lives, as the firstborn of each species were blessed with longevity due to the blood of the Sentinel, but that faded over the years and so, such creatures later became the subjects of myths and songs. The First Age was also a time when mortals and gods lived and fought together. Interactions between them were frequent since the Gods had established their presence in Vitallia, determined to win the war and claim the essence of the meteor. However, when the war turned to Nedel and the gods allied with the Sentinel, they lost their claim of the precious ore but gained the faith of the people instead. That “transaction” sealed the peace with the Sentinel and allowed Vitallia to endure, moving to the Second Age where the focus shifted from the gods to the people of Vitallia.

Age of the Guardian (2nd Age)

The Second Age of Vitallia was filled with events of a growing world of Humans and the rest of the species. In the aftermath of the Great War, the people of Vitallia settled in the lands and formed the first mortal kingdoms. It was an age of exploration and travel, as well as productivity and industry. Many tribes were led by kings, queens, shamans, and spiritual leaders while others were led by Gods that remained close to their faithful subjects. However, soon the Gods were bound to return to their dimensions as part of an agreement that was sealed with the Sentinel at the end of the war, and so, the people took charge of this new age instead. To the west, Nedel remained imprisoned inside the Amber Cell and the Gargoyles built their kingdom between the Cell and the Mainland, to observe the gathering darkness that was brewing behind amber walls. Humans spread to the Forklands and later to the Southern Seas and the islands, while Dwarves journeyed north to the isle of Esgolithon. Elves ventured east to seek refuge in remote and secluded locations and the rest of the tribes made their claims to the various lands as they saw fit. War and turmoil broke out again as kingdoms formed, but more major calamities emerged that demanded action. Dragons arrived from other dimensions through Astral Gates and their power was so great that it broke the spirits of the people. The Gods were away and Vitallia needed guardians. The power and glory of the heroes of the Great War had faded, but new heroes would emerge to answer the call, and some of them, were products of the old war as well. An order later known as “Blade Guardians” rose to power and became oathbound to Vitallia alone, choosing to serve and protect the people of the world outside the jurisdiction of kings and other organizations.

Age of the Conqueror (3rd Age)

The Third Age of Vitallia brought back remnants of the past. It began with the establishment of Lothen’s power over the rest of the Human kingdoms that soon spread to other kingdoms of the Mainland as well. In the face of King Norionor Whiteshield, the people of Lothen saw the power of old heroes of a bygone age and his expedition marked a whole age. Lothen’s conquest was short but Norionor’s legacy remained and so did his shadow. After his death, all of Vitallia’s kingdoms invested in their military forces to avoid dominion by others in the future. It was either fate or mere luck that guided this decision because years later, a new threat would emerge that would require the greatest gathering of armies ever assembled. During these years, Vitallia was a place of military growth and at the same time, fear rooted deep into the hearts of the people, which led to more division and violence. A prohibition of magic was announced in the north and as a result, magicians were stigmatized, hunted down, and killed. A collective madness took over the people that gradually faded under the shadow of a prophecy of yet another threat that was approaching.

Age of the Four Daughters (4th Age)

The Fourth Age of Vitallia was overshadowed by a prophecy that foresaw the coming of Nedel. The script came from Laraskul, a survivor of the Great War who alarmed the leaders of the world about the coming catastrophe. Four Daughters would rise against Nedel who broke the Cell and escaped, only to seek revenge for the years of his imprisonment. Each Daughter was a powerful city whose army was vital for the war. A tremendous effort was made by various organizations that strove to deliver the message to powerful leaders across the lands, urging them to seize their disputes and band together against the common threat. Armies traveled from land and sea to Exotia, the eastern kingdom of Elves where Nedel led his forces. The Battle of the Four Daughters sealed the Fourth Age and Nedel and his minions were once again repelled, but this time, his essence was banished from Vitallia, although his exile would not last forever. Vitallia had once again endured, and the people embarked on a new holy quest, to claim the lands of the Cell in the absence of Nedel.

Age of the Tyrrant (5th Age, Current Timeline)

Vitallia’s current timeline revolves around the 5th Age. It is a time of expeditions as new lands are being unveiled. Alien Races have entered the dimension and new ones are bred by the Sentinel. However, threats from the past still cast a shadow over the hearts of the people troubling the minds of the sages and the chroniclers of the world.
