The Lich King

The Lich King has been ruling since the year 653 when he supposedly murdered the beloved Empress of Umber.
No one knows who he was in his past life. Some speculate he was a wizard who died young several centuries earlier while others believe that he was born prior to the era of the Objective Age, meaning he would more than 850 years old.
All the same, it came as a shock when the Empress was thwarted, her disembodied head displayed for all of Umber to see. This display of cruel power made anyone hesitate to overthrow him, but still many tried and failed.
While he has been relatively stable in his rule for the past 200 years, his appearance has changed with time. In the beginning, he did well to maintain a facade as a charismatic elven man with long black hair, using his lich form only to intimidate when necessary. It appeared like he tried to base his Elven persona off of Lord Kilaeth, likely to try and subconsciously win over trust. However, slowly his care to maintain the graceful Elven form became unimportant to him. He still occasionally uses it and potentially other guises based off of rumors, but no one is really sure.
As a ruler, he is regarded as cruel and tyrannical, getting a sadistic pleasure in running the people into the ground in his search for greater power. He has openly challenged Nomfaldür and Cetonius in the past, seemingly to a fruitless end, but rumors are starting to say otherwise and that he has plans growing to assault the other great nations as well.
He has been slowly acquiring the 7 key shards that grant one access to the ancient orb, which is the most powerful source of magic in the prime material plane. Terrible would be the day that he opens the seal.
