The Scrying Quill

It is said that a Scrying Quill is a magical tool that has many uses. Adept mages have enchanted and used this sort of tool for centuries to fit many different applications. These quills can be used in conjunction with a mages spell book to take down dictations of magical writings and words in all manner of books and subject matter. Scrying pens have been known to record landmarks when bound to telescopes or goggles. Some have even been used as observation and recording devices linked to specific items or possessions on one's person that when used would dictate locations of use on a map, or thoughts or emotions on paper or in books. some have even been known to record actual conversations when bound to specific items despite separation between the Scrying quill and the bound item over hundred and some say even thousands of miles. Creating such an item has been well documented in Copies of the Spell Tomes of the sages of Alagree and also in the Volumes of Ogma Magica.
One thing for certain is that the key component needed is a Wing Feather of an Owl and Ink pigments made from the ashes of Burned Magical texts. Owl Feathers are fairly common to come by but Ink pigments mixed from burned magical texts are not. Most mages prize their magical writings and are not willing to burn them to bind a quill in such a way but sometimes these quills come into being or creation due to some mishap. It was even rumored that the Great Wizard Zenopus enchanted spell scrolls made of a certain material that when used burned away in such a manner that the ashes could be collected and after having several scrolls expended he would have enough ash for the creation of pigments.
Needless to say, finding such a wonderous Item either bound to some specific purpose or unbound could be a highlight of one's Magical or adventuring career.
