Synne

Synne is located inside a volcano that, while dormant, keeps the surrounding land warm. Dwarves were the first to discover and settle the territory, digging down to the volcano's fiery veins and setting up their forges around them. As humans and other races found the settlement, the dwarves grudgingly allowed them to stay, trade, and grow crops from their own lands. Over the years, the resulting city became a patchwork of cultures and an abundance of goods spanning below and above the ground.

Government

Each people group has representatives chosen or appointed according to their own traditions, and these work together on matters that affect the entire population, while working privately on matters pertaining to their own people. For example, if someone commits an offense against one of their own people, only their governing forces will be involved in the matter. While if an offense is commited against another ethnicity, the governments of each will decide the offender's fate while attempting to keep peace between their people.

Defences

As Synne and its wealth has grown over time, so have its defenses. What started as a relatively small dwarven stronghold now has an outer city wall establishing its borders and keeping predators away from livestock, and a second, taller and thicker wall, with a moat, towers, and parapets for archers and weapons to be posted.

Industry & Trade

Internal Trade

Though the dwarves were initially reluctant neighbors, they so love their craft (and good food) that before long they happily agreed to supply the other settlers with weapons and armor in exchange for food other than the strange fish found in the subterranean river. Over time, each group living within Synne has come to contribute to the flourishing of the whole, whether through supplying the product of some plant or animal they know how to farm, a craft they are gifted in, or simply helping with whatever is needed.

Imports and Exports

The most imported resource is Eonwood, which doesn't grow anywhere near the volcano and, due to its many uses, is almost a universal currency in trade.   Exports include dwarven weapons and armor of all kinds, and more limited amounts of food and animals from the other settlers.

Geography

The volcano itself is merely a bulge in the ground, with a subterranean river running through it, resulting in hotsprings and geysers. The land surrounding the volcano is lush with foliage and grass.

Natural Resources

Precious stones and metals can be mined from the volcano. Fruits from various regions grow on bushes and trees in natural groves and planted orchards.
