Horned Leromirs / Adarrans
Due to Vonarians ancestry with Odesyfians, sometimes dormant genes will be active in newborns, the most common involves growing a horn or two. The horn will be nothing but a stump at birth, and slowly it will grow until adulthood. Rather than for combat, the horn is more of a protective shell for the extended Lera organs which grow within the horn, giving the Adarran a great boost to their Lera abilities and strength.
Adarrans don't have horns when they are born, usually just little bumps, which will then grow as they age, reaching a predetermined size. Usually 2-3 inches in length, but some rare individuals have horns up to 6 inches. The bigger the horn, the bigger the organ it protects, and thus the more powerful the Adarran is.
Causes
Random genetic mutation.
Treatment
Adarrans are usually treated with disdain, so the horn can be amputated soon after birth. Amputation after this point carries increasing risk of nerve damage as the horn and Lera organ grows.
Cultural Reception
Depending on the country, Adarrans are treated with disdain or reverence. Some countries celebrate Adarrans as higher beings, and being born with horns is regarded as a gift from the gods. Other countries prefer to remove the horns soon after birth, to avoid their child getting treated as a freak.
