Neural link insanity

Neural link insanity, telepathic psychosis, link severance syndrome.
This is a condition where 2 beings linked together via telepathy or neural linking will suddenly try to kill the partner they are linked to, at any cost.
Those afflicted with this condition have been seen attempting to claw through cell walls in order to reach and kill their partner. For no apparent reason they have a deep, carnal desire to kill them.
This usually happens to the slave of the relationship, but also for mutual relationships. Neural linking has been used by some militaries to increase coordination of soldiers. Scientists don't know the cause of the condition and likely never will.
Once the victim of NLI contracts it, they will immediately feel a growing hatred towards their partner(s) and eventually try to kill them, often in creative and brutal ways. Many reports tell of the victim burning or destroying their partners brain.
After the victim has killed their partner they will go further into complete insanity. Babbling incoherent words, they will do one of 2 things.
1) go on a deranged killing spree. 2) lay on the ground, screams Ng, sobbing, or in rare cases; singing. The victim will continue until they die of hunger, thirst or blood loss.
Despite this terrifying condition, one military maintained their linked soldiers program (among others).


Neural link insanity can also affect robots somehow.

Complete mental collapse. Insanity. Language centre of the brain seems to be completely scrambled.

Prognosis

Stage 1: growing hatred towards telepathy partner
Stage 2: intense desire to murder partner and destroy their brain.
Stage 3 a: attempts to kill any other living creature in the area.
Stage 3 b: continuous screaming, sobbing, or singing until victim dies of hunger or thirst.

Sequela

Post NLI syndrome: This stage has only been reached by 1 person. He had to be sedated and some minor brain surgery done before the subject went into a semi-formal state of mind Subject reported feelings of dread, intense loneliness, depression, and a constant desire to talk to people.
The subject later killed himself.

History

The first victim of this condition was actually a robot. Controlled by a human operator. The robot suddenly turned in his controller and brutally tore him apart. The incident was written off as an freak accident.

Cultural Reception

People in general are terrified of it. Not only because of the horrible murders it brings about. But because the cause is unknown.
