Lalfelwen Uiretarion

Summary

Lalfelwen Uiretarion is the fourth high king of Cirithas , the high priestess of the Cirithasi Church of Corellon, and the hereditary monarch of Angandor. She lives in the chambers of the High Priest in Daer Ethir's largest church. As a ruler, she is known for her religious conviction and patronage of the arts.

Early Life

King Lalfelwen was the fourth-born child of High King Berendir Uiretarion and Juinel of Belashan, a Parthili princess. As the third-born male heir, she was placed in the priesthood of Corellon while her elder brothers were trained in political and military affairs. She became the High Priest of the Cirithasi Church of Corellon in 3063 and served in that position for nearly half a century. Just a few years later, her oldest brother died of a terrible magical disease. In 3092, the next brother in line was killed in a riot during a diplomatic mission in Gwestor. This left Lalfelwen to inherit the throne when her father stepped down in 3156.

Transition

At the Tolta Coronar festival of 3173, Lalfelwen became the first Cirithasi high king to invoke the blessing of Corellon, changing her body from that of a man to that of a woman. More traditionally-minded Elves criticized this decision because Cirithasi law states that the land must be ruled by a king. In response, Lalfelwen chose to maintain the title of high king rather than being called the high queen. Her transition unfortunately intensified the political instability brought on by the The Phoenix War, which began around the same time.
