Jacare is a carefree and fearless Elf from the Kingdom of Ledo. With his ship, the Destemida, he regularly sails across the sea to the Dark Lands for fortune and glory. His ship is one of the only ones that regularly makes the journey and his crew trusts his judgement in all things.

Jacare got his start when he was 16 when he joined the Horosha Explorer's Guild. After several years and a few expeditions where he scored a lucky amount of treasure, he was able to afford his own ship when he was around 20. It was a small ship, a cutter that he named the Fast Fortune. He spent several years running goods between the Kingdoms of Cassel and the Elven Kingdoms of Teross. During this time he was also friends with a half elf named Renelle Vernador. Ren regularly hired Jacare to take her across Eastern Vreathe.

Jacare knew of the old tales of the famous explorer Karos Kole and his expedition to the Dark Lands, reaching the kingdom of Xinopta. Very few expeditions were attempted in the four hundred years since then, and fewer were successful, and for very good reason. Jacare ignored the dangers and wanted to be one of the first to make it back there. When Jacare was 24, he was able to afford a much larger ship to make the journey across the Aetheric Ocean. It was a galleon he named the Destemida.

After sucessfully making it across the ocean, Jacare didn't end up in the fabled cities of Crystal and Gold of Xinopta. He was several thousand miles off course and was in a swampy region far to the south. He traded with the local elves there, who called themselved the Tegu. They promised him riches if he could kill a Hikari Dragon that was terrorizing the village. Jacare agreed and led his men on an expedition into the jungle. The dragon crept on them by surprise from the riverbank and nearly took one of his men, but Jacare courageously jumped on the beast, slicing its neck and stabbing it to death. He got several distinct scars himself in this fight. Killing this dragon is also where Jacare got his name and the respect of his crew.

The Tegu thanked Jacare and gave him quite a bit of Aethercite for his troubles. Jacare took this as well as the body of the slain hikari dragon back with him to Cassel. He sold it to acedemics in Tesiadem for large amounts of Beryls. Jacare went back to the Dark Lands half a dozen times after, going to different areas each time, bringing back unique items and creatures. Even for an elf he is rich enough at 30 to retire and live a life of luxury for the rest of his immortal life but the allure of finding more new lands and new riches keeps him active for now.
