The Towers of Pir'ith-Mar

these enormous structures are dotted all over the landscape of raw magical energy and mutated, hellish monsters that have been mutated by said magic, the intent to draw it away and let the land heal, so far to no avail. the spires stretch far into the sky. Many a brave (or possibly foolish) mage, wizard, sorcerer and just about anyone else that partakes in magic climb to the top of these towers and siphon some of the ambient magic away to use for their own purpose, whatever that may be, or to just aid in the slow process. Some however make mistakes, like putting their hands on the large collector crystals inside, or drawing too much too quick and their body's mutate into horrid abominations of teeth, tentacles, wings and all manor of other things. sometimes some cluts of a wizard might drop a bottle of liquid mana or accidentally spill it as they try to cork it, the liquid hitting the floor and instantaneously transforming into a sharp, multi-point crystalline formation, some towers are so far away from civilization that the mana has overflowed and made the whole tower into a giant crystal.

Purpose / Function

The large spinning crystal inside the top of the spire attracts raw mana lightning that slams into the outside, each bolt causing a loud bang as it impacts with the armored walls and a ripple of energy runs up the tower to the top where its collected by a "Dew crystal" larger than a man is tall, this special crystal condenses the gaseous mana into a liquid that flows down the outside of the large gem and drips into a pool below it where it collects and becomes harvestable, this neon purple, blue and white liquid. the tower itself slowly drains the pool to use this liquid magic in protecting itself from the never ending storms raging around it

Alterations

while not normally possible to alter the outside, sometimes the "dew crystal" has to be replaced and so a new one is brought in, the old one taken down and the new one put up

Architecture

built out of white marble and polished chrome, these structures stand upwards of 500 meters on average, their smooth, white walls designed to contrast the grey, black ground and be easy to spot for those that are lost, sometimes called "mage lighthouses" by those that use them as a guide. the marble and chrome itself shimmers if anything gets near it, a magical barrier appearing millimeters off the walls, sheathing the whole building in a protective layer that is fueled by the very weather around it. a single large door on one face of the building is the entrance and the very top is open to the elements but has a protective barrier to stop rain and non magical weather, apart from that it is a bland and boring pillar of stone and metal, both inside and out

History

Built almost a century ago by an unnamed magic user, these towers where dotted all over the places where magic had done the most damage and has been pooling. the towers are designed to attract as much magical lightning as possible in an attempt to drain as much magic from the land as possible, the towers themselves are not really viewed as valuable, needing a magic user to operate them, but the liquid mana they produce is highly sought after and regular skirmishes for control have been fought around many towers

Good job Dawn! The image and theme really fits nicely with the article and it was a very interesting read!   Just a couple of grammar things: you forget a capital letter at the start of some sentences. Under "history" you've written "highly sort after", I believe it should be saught (if I'm not mistaken :3)   Very nice work!!

Grab your hammer and go worldbuild! :3

"these enormous structures are dotted all over the landscape of raw magical energy and mutated, hellish monsters that have been mutated by said magic, the intent to draw it away and let the land heal" try not to repeat words, in this case mutated. also, I asume you mean "with the intent", but you don't explain it. draw what away?

"or to just aid in the slow process" - again, which process? "all manor" - all manner "harvestable, this neon purple" -harvestable as a neon purpleā€¦ just trying to sabe you some work in reviewing it.   Also "Built almost a century ago by an unnamed magic user" but "sometimes the "dew crystal" has to be replaced and so a new one is brought in". who's in charge of doing that?
