Horizon Gate

The Horizon Gate is a large opening in the Horizon Range that was created by a joint effort of many of the nations of Vylderaine to allow for easier travel from one side of the world to the other without having to try and sail through the mountains. The Gate was created during The Age of Horizons and helped give the age its name. The construction began decades earlier in The Age of Industry but it took so long to complete due to the tremendous effort it takes to break down the mountains enough to allow for easy access to ships. A politically neutral port was also established at first but was almost immediately assaulted by the pirates of the Cerulean Ocean. Nowadays the Horizon Gate and its port are protected by a joint naval effort by many of the nations of Vylderaine that helped construct it and it it is believed that the Gate is the only thing keeping the pirates from spreading further into the Adamant Ocean. Despite the fortitude of the defenses of the Horizon Gate however, the pirate haven of Leviathan still sails a bit too close for the likings of the nations of Vylderaine.
