Tower of Perun

Tower of Perun is a citadel located on the end of one of the peninsulas separating the Vessian Bay from the sea. In the times of the Vessian Empire it was a military fortress that controlled one side of a massive chain that could be used to block access to the bay. The other side of the chain was controlled by the citadel at Imperial Tower, currently the capital of the Principality of Dunia. Today the chain is no longer functional and rests at the bottom of the sea.

"Imperial Tower and Tower of Perun are separated by hundreds of kilometeres of sea. How the chain was able to withstand the forces of nature?"
"I don't know. Magic..."
— Conversation between a historian and a knight of Perun

History

From the earliest days of its existence, the citadel was under the control of the Brotherhood of Perun. In the times of the empire, however, the brotherhood had to relinquish some of the control to imperial officials who controlled the chain facilities. The chain was a strategic asset to the empire and had to be kept under direct imperial control.

After the fall of the empire, the brotherhood regain full control of the citadel. However, the chain facilties were sabotaged. The last emperor was attempting an escape and feared that his enemies could use the chain against him.

Architecture

In the centre of the citadel stands a tall, white tower. It is the seat of the Grand Master of the Brotherhood and quarters of the knights. In its lower part, the tower is surrounded by smaller buildings attached to it and to each other creating an almost hive-like structure. Separated from the tower are buildings such as stables, smithies and other production facilities. Everything is surrounded by high walls.

Tower of Perun also has a big harbour that can be accessed both sides of the old chain facilities. In the past, it was one of the main bases of the imperial fleet.
