Vyrabena (Veer-Ah-Been-Ah)

Vyrabena is from the Verbenaceae family of plants. The same family as Vervain which is actually toxic to vampyrs. Vyrabena however is only intoxicating in its pleasurable effects.   It's properties were found by accident when a vampyr woman, by the name of Charlotte Woodley, obtained what she thought was a pouch of dried vervain flowers, which she purchased from a seller in the Arcane Quarter for the purpose of poisoning her husband. She had found out he was having relations with another woman and wanted him dead. However, the concoction she'd made didn't kill him, it made him more amorous. And because this happened in the presence of his wife it rekindled his desire for her. He lost all interest in the other woman and the relationship with his wife bloomed, with 10 children to show for it!   The seller then heard about this and started to sell this plant as a recreational drug, naming it 'Vyrabena'. It is thought the plant grows in the mountains surrounding Vyrvania. Because of this it has limited availability and small amounts sell for a high price and mainly marketed to the nobility.
Vyrabena is now sold in several forms; dried flowers, powders, and sap wine being the main forms.   The purchaser usually creates a cocktail-type drink with the vyrabena and alcohol. This makes the product go further and enables them to have wild parties and include their closest friends and family.

There are also a number of side-effects. One is that vampyrs are less discriminate about who they have relations with. This has been shown to increase illness and disease amongst the vampyr and taint their blood-lines. Second, is evidence that vampyrs for which vyrabena has become more than a habit have shown visible signs of ageing.   Currently, the use of vyrabena hasn't caught the eye of Garrick Thornwood, but if he does catch sight of it, it will likely be forbidden and the peddlers severely punished!
