The "monstrous" deepfolk form tribes in the hinterlands of merfolk nations. They are commonly believed to be evil and worship fell gods. Those that dwell closer to human ports and further from the trenches and sargassos, can sometimes be found interacting with landwalking people. Amongst other merfolk, however, they are avoided and often shunned outright; the kataw in particular hate the Siyokoy. In fact, it is this prejudice that pushes some deepfolk into the adventuring life on land.
