Aselu (a-SAY-loo)

Also known as adlets, cynoceps, anubians and more, the aselu are a socially active and widespread Humanoid species throughout the greater planar region of the Eridún Crux.

Description

Aselu are largely similar to Meranthic human-elves, with the exception that they have the heads of narrow-snouted canids, such as coyotes or jackals. The heads (and generally the shoulders and chest) are especially thick-furred. Aselu have the same range of skin colours as other humanoids and an even wider range of colours and patterns in ther fur.

The species is known for its particularly acute sense of smell; many take advantage of this by finding work tracking or bounty hunting.

The Kelpeater Empire

Though not native to Lorgain, Aselu were a significant interplanar community there when God-Emperor Inum'indiron'aravaut gathered his Empire to colonize Waking Materia. Some joined the Kelpeaters as warriors, some as slaves, a few as merchants. More would join the maturing empire later on, particularly as the Dye Wars caused a massive spike in interplanar trade, centered around Materia. They are remembered as one of the more dominant sentient races of Materia's First Age, but are now virtually unheard of in its Third.
