The Dead City

An ancient Settlement that was abandoned by the Theaze during The First Acran War. The myths associated with its final days depict the rapid collapse of a shining civilization and the exile of an entire group of people. It is taboo to visit this place, particularly during the night, because it is seen as a cursed and deeply painful reminder of the pride and falibility of mortals. The original name has been forgotten to time to all but the Theaze as if even the name was tainted.

Demographics

Was the most diverse city from all over Walica, existed as a trading hub for all reigons and thus had representatives from all over

Government

The Government was made up of Nine Havening ministers who were not just tasked with just governing, but also with training and organizing gifted individuals to complete tasks around the city to support citizens, each individual minister was in charge of a district and a single aspect of support; Infrastructure, Research, Trade, Entertainment, Health, Military, Education, Records, and the Co-ordinator to direct the city-state. These individuals were elected, but were expected not to just make decisions but also to fulfil roles in their areas of the city that were not being addressed meaning only the most capable of Havenings who had the confidence of their district were even considered, anything they could not fix immediately or that required more than they could offer, they were required to delegate a team of individuals to solve the issue in their stead.

Defences

The military was mostly made of smaller squadrons that worked more as a police force than an active military. The natural defences of the city were not good either, relying mostly on the need that the city fulfilled. When the First Acran War started the city deserted itself seemingly overnight according to records.

Industry & Trade

There was not much industry that occurred here, this was mostly a meeting ground for the nomadic and semi-nomadic groups to trade and to acquiesce the services of other gifted people or Havenings. Since this was the only major city of its time, this was a major meeting ground for all the groups in Walica.

Infrastructure

This was an enormous city split into eight areas surrounding a central hub that sat alongside two tribuitaries feeding into a major river. This provided two ideal locations for large ports, as well as sturdy soil structure. Overtime these rivers have eroded and deposited silt creating fertile vallies on either side of the main river which allowed for two areas for agriculture while the raised areas left behind allowed for ideal locations for housing and small markets. The primary area for trade occurred in the central cities at the convergence of those tribuitaries. there are eight bridges in the city two across each smaller river, and four across the major one. These bridges could be raised or lowered at will in case of a ship coming into port. It is unknown how, since they have long since rotted away. For the most part there is very little evidence of roads or most of these smaller areas, with some evidence of the city being swallowed by the encroaching erosion of the rivers. When the rift occurred, the land lifted up enough to redirect the rivers and cut off Acra from their primary source of water. Now everything but stone is gone and one needs to really pay attention to the landscape to see evidence of a past civilization

Districts

There were 8 districts all different sizes radiating around the central port-side district districts closer to the rivers were dedicated to agriculture whereas districts on the top of the hills tended to be locations for housing and local marketplaces each catering to different communities or needs.

Assets

During the time that the city was bustling, most groups in Walica were nomadic or semi-nomadic, living in smaller communities. These communities relied on the gifted and when an elder was close to death, These individuals would come to the city to enlist a gifted individual to fulfil the role until another member of the community was born with that gift. As a result, it served as a trade city of not just goods, but also services. Havenings were the most prized among these people because they would be able to have multiple gifts as well as keep the strength at the same level to fulfil the role of the dying elder. Those dying elders would willingly sacrifice their remaining life force to allow any new Havenings the chance to Integrate their gifts. The money exchanged during such a trade invigorated the local economy and diversified each of these smaller communities. Whenever a Havening returned to the city, they would spend 5 years working for the government or teaching newly discovered Havenings, before returning to their home communities. Many Havenings would choose to stay, and concequently would have Havening children. This made the city a target when the First Acran War incited the world against Havenings and thus turned against the city.

Guilds and Factions

There were guilds for each of the eight ministries, and each would be headed by a Havening who would take on the role of representing them as a district leader and their voice on the advisory council to the Co-ordinator.

History

Not much is known about the early history of The Dead City, what can be pieced together is what was recorded and stored in the Library of Slera in Ashines. The records of The Dead City are incomplete although it is known that the original inhabitants then became the Theaze They have stories and myths associated with the city and are rumoured to make regular pilgrimages to the site. This and other rumours about the Theaze have made them social pariahs and 'mystical folk' not to be trusted.

Points of interest

There are four large hills and three intersecting valleys, one deeper than the others. There are rocky stones jutting out from riverbeds and rocky mounds on top of the hills with strange plateaus cut into the side of them. The rest of the area is dry and strangely dead compared with the surrounding areas.

Tourism

There was little to no tourism, this was a place where people largely had a task to get in and out. the beauty and bright colours of the city at the time came from the people who came to sell their wares.

Architecture

The architecture was simple and mostly made of stone, brick and wood, any other materiels used have long since decayed

Geography

Four large hills with three converging vallies meandering through them.

Natural Resources

This area was not known for its natural resources simply that it was an easy meeting spot for those who relied on boats, and caravans alike, natural resources were only usually enough for locals and although there was very little lacking in the city due to the resources brought in by outsiders.
