Raven is a beautiful, purple-haired adventurer, intelligent and perceptive and a founding member of the Heroes for Hire: The Nameless Ones. Her small frame is packed with big magic…and an even bigger heart. She is fearless and driven to protect the weak and the helpless. Raven is a true hero.
Raven was born "Elyrah Vassani Starfire", though that name was unknown to her until recent events. Her father was the High Elf, Oman Starfire, a great warrior, hero, and general in the elven military. Her mother, Eyjah, was an Eladrin from the fey realm. They met and married in Elevere and built their home in the woods. Eyjah had been in hiding from a beast that pursued her through the fey realm. Little is known about the beast, though it was referred to as "the Darkness". Only months after Elyrah was born, the Darkness had found Eyjah. Oman did battle with the beast and was killed. Eyjah gave her daughter to her handmaiden and instructed her to take Elyrah far away, and change her name. Eyjah, then, lead the beast back into the fey realm.
Elyrah was brought to the town of New Brimland, where she was adopted by a pair of elderly humans, Skanter and Lily Bromwell. The handmaiden told the Bromwells that the child's name was "Raven". Skanter and Lily showered Raven with love, but it didn’t take many years for Raven to recognize that she was different, as one of the few elves in New Brimland. She not only looked different, but she had a natural knack for magic. Being raised by older parents resulted in Raven being fiercely independent. She preferred to read books and explore the nearby forests rather than hang out with the popular kids.
At age 12, Raven sat beside the bed of Skanter as he passed away from natural causes. Fortunately, Skanter had set aside a retirement fund that provided for Lily and Raven, and would be enough to send Raven to school. At age 16, Raven left home for the city of Ambrovia. She started in classes for Enchantment at The Sortilege Academy. Her drive and independence pushed her to the top of her class. A year later, Raven's adopted mother, Lily, passed away. The professors at The Sortilege Academy were so impressed with her hard work that they granted scholarships to help Raven through school until she graduated at age 23. From there, she took some time to explore her world, traveling and taking on odd jobs until one day she received a message from High Priestess Ursulla Verde, inviting her to a meeting in the tiny town of Red Leaf, where the Nameless Ones would be formed.
