Szandor Hornraven III

Prince Szandor was born in 3300 AW to the King of Vreidston, King Szandor Hornraven II and Queen Aether. He was born via a surrogate mother; an elf woman named Debriah. Reportedly born with some facial defects, he grew up as a troubled child. Szandor had an attraction to dark magic, which was banned by his father. In particular, Szandor was obsessed with the Vreidstone; a relic from the Hornraven past that had been locked in the family vault. The Vreidstone, set in a kingly ring, was said to have powerful necromantic powers, and had been created over 200 years previously by Bentrice Hornraven for ill intent.
Despite his great interest in this dark magic, Szandor did his best to honor his father's wishes. He attended classes on etiquette and protocol, as well as studying fighting techniques. At age 17, Szandor joined the Vreidston military, as was customary with the Hornraven sons.
In 3324 AW, Szandor was sent with his battalion to the Davorian Canyon to investigate a dragon sighting. Intel had reported a young wyrmling, but that intel was wrong; it was an adult Red Dragon. The beast tore through the ranks before being taken down. Szandor, who suffered terrible scars on his face from the dragon, was one of only 6 survivors who became known as the Black Lake Six.
After returning home, Szandor became obsessed with dragons, as well as continuing his pursuit of Dark magic and the Vreidstone. Early in 3331 AW, Szandor broke into the family vault to steal the ring, only to find that it wasn’t there. His father found him in the vault and confronted him, informing Szandor III that the ring had been broken and the fragments sent away. In uncontrolled rage, Szandor III killed his father with a blade to the heart. Szandor fled, and has been on the run since.
