Enchanted-Bunny

The Enchanted-Bunny is a Satanimal created when the Sapiens were experimenting with nuclear radiation on carrots and infected the rabbits in the nearby area. The rabbits developed abnormal traits and became some of the most dangerous Satanimals in Ka'a'.

Basic Information

Anatomy

In appearance the Enchanted-Bunny appears as a roughly normal rabbit. Their distinguishing factor is their eight blue eyes and the fact that they waddle around on two tiny legs rather than scurry on four. Enchanted-Bunnies can pick up and manipulate objects with their tiny hands, which have four fingers (one finger is an opposable thumb). The bones of the hind-limbs consist of long bones (the femur, tibia, fibula, and phalanges) as well as short bones (the tarsals) and smaller bones connecting both (metatarsals). They stand just on their toes when moving. The hind feet have four long toes that allow for this and are webbed to prevent them from spreading when hopping. Enchanted-Rabbits have paw-pads on their feet like most other animals that use digitigrade locomotion, covered with a coarse compressed hair that offers protection and insulation.   But it is what the Enchanted-Bunny can do that makes it a true Satanimals, instead of a simple mutant. If provoked, an Enchanted-Bunny will expand in size until it is bigger than a horse. It will grow long fangs like a wolf and claws like a bear, and will proceed to immediately decapitate the threat by biting clean through the neck. Enchanted-Bunnies seem ostensibly harmless but are, in fact, deadly. This is why the Enchanted-Bunny is considered one of the most dangerous Satanimals in Ka'a'.

Biological Traits

Like most Satanimals, their blood is tainted with magic and nuclear radiation.

Genetics and Reproduction

Enchanted-Bunnies reproduce far quicker than normal rabbits, with an average of 50 babies born in one litter and one litter being produced every 2 months.

Growth Rate & Stages

An Enchanted-Rabbit will grow into an adult in 13 months, without going through juvenile or "teenage" stages.

Ecology and Habitats

Dietary Needs and Habits

Enchanted-Rabbits subsist on a diet of Carrots-of-Power which they dig up under gem-mines and dry rivers.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their most important evolutionary-gifts are their six ears; their ears are utilized to detect and avoid predators from about 2000 miles away. Their long ears cover a greater surface area relative to their body size that allows them to detect predators and traces of magic. Their ears are an important structure to aid thermoregulation and detect predators due to how the outer-ears (first pair of ears, the longest), middle ears (second pair of ears, positioned behind the outer-ears) and inner ears (smallest pair of ears, situated behind the skull) coordinate with one another. Their six ears also aid in maintaining balance and movement when fleeing predators, acting as "wings" when running at high speeds. The Auricle (outer ear) of the Enchanted-Bunny aids in dispersion of heat at temperatures above 30°C in warmer climates, the outer-ear also functions as shock absorbers that aids and stabilizes vision when fleeing predators. The middle-ears are filled with three flute-shaped bones called ossicles and are separated by the outer eardrum in the back of the skull. The three ossicles are called hammer, anvil, and stirrup and act to decrease sound before it hits the inner-ears. The middle-ears also detect sound energy, such as breathing or locomotion. The inner-ears are filled with a fluid called polylymph which receives energy waves. Within the inner ear there are two parts: the cochlea that utilizes sound waves from the ossicles and the vestibular apparatus that manages the rabbit's position in regards to movement. Within the cochlea there is a basilar-membrane that contains sensory hair structures utilized to send nerve signals to the brain so it can recognize different sound frequencies, including sounds of other animals. Within the vestibular apparatus the rabbit possesses three semicircular canals to help detect angular motion when running.
