Mountaineers Feast

Every year is a chance to grow.

The Mountaineers feast is a celebration taking place on a Mountain Strider's day of birth. Specifically with their close friends, family, and loved ones.

History

Now it is an excuse to get drunk or try hitting on your preferred gender. However, its cultural importance is based on our origins. How the Guns of the North would celebrate their birthdays. It is a time to demonstrate what an awoken has learned in the past year and a small demonstration of this new skill or knowledge. This can be anything from hitting targets with a weapon, teaching a class on a subject, or simply telling jokes.   So essentially it exists to show off and to culturally push the idea of always bettering yourself. A fine idea on paper but most are very lazy about it. This does create a very relaxed atmosphere in those cases, but then you have those who are more traditional on the subject. Like my parents. If my mom makes me recite the history of The Copper Mountains one more time I might tear my plumage out.

Execution

The event follows an order, though not everyone does it this way, this is simply how my family does it.
  1. The display of skill: As its name suggests, this is when someone shows what they learned, with anything fitting. So long as it displays an attempt to improve yourself over the year. It is incredibly awkward.
  2. Gifts: If any, but sometimes someone will bring a gift for you. This is seen as a way to show that you are really attached to another. An example of this being the bag my father gave me or the shawl my mother gave me.
  3. The Feast: What gives the event its name, you set the table, grab a drink, and eat. Normally till your stuffed and sleepy. This is usually followed by a lull of everyone passed out before everyone goes home for the day.
