    Ancient history of Waterdeep: Elven and Dwarven settlement of Aelinthaldaar
    Era beginning/end

    Before human historical records, Waterdeep, then Aelinthaldaar, was the capital of the elven empire of Illefarn. Dwarves, led by Melair, establish a dwarven city beneath Mount Waterdeep in symbiosis with the elves to mine mithral. Upon the Exodus of the Illefarn elves, so do the Melairkyn dwarves disappear deep underground. Humans settle aboveground.

    The powerful wizard Halaster Blackcloak constructs a tower at the base of Mount Waterdeep and rules the surrounding countryside until disappearing in the Undermountain.

    Warlord Nimoar's death and Troll Wars
    Political event

    Nimoar, ruler of what was known as "Nimoar’s Hold, the Town of Waters Deep", dies. Driven south by the Sylvo-Giant wars, trolls attack the city in many bloody onslaughts until the young mage Ahghairon turns the tides of the war.

    Ahghairon defies Warlord Raurlor and founds Waterdeep's modern government

    Ahghairon defies the expansionist ruler of Waterdeep and installs himself as Open Lord, creating a system of government we know today.

    The Time of Troubles

    A great war between the forces gods, descended to earth. Culminates in the Overgod Ao granting godhood to several human heroes on the slopes of Mount Waterdeep.
