Session VI: Tracking Down Clues Report

General Summary

The party left the Ocean's Wake bar after breakfast, seeing Brassons comfort someone going through a hard time. They went to Lieutenant Suvorov's prisinct building to find the officer indisposed but Sergeant Deepdelver takes them up, explaining that he and the regimental alchemist had a fight. Taking them upstairs, they meet Dr. Alexi Yepanchin. After rudely dismissing Sergeant Deepdelver, he addresses the party and complains about Lt. Suvorov.
Dalvanak uses his telepathy to find the surface thoughts of the alchemist, revealing that he had some falling out with the Lieutenant. Faddius puts on the charm and figures out that Yepanchin felt slighted when Suvorov got headache medicine when he was out rather than coming to him, the regimental alchemist. He notes that he may have been out at the time, but still feels slighted because he thinks gnomes are less civilized and act like know-it-alls. Faddius catches that it is odd that Yepanchin takes so much time off.
Dalvanak uses his telepathy to tell Suvorov to come apologize to fix everything. Suvorov apologizes, subtlely emphasizing the incident was six months ago. The alchemist hautly accepts and then tells the party, when Suvorov leaves, that the insides of the victims turned to kyanite, a rare and interesting crystal. He suggests going to the Gemcutter's Guild for more information on it.
They greet an overly cheery and diffident receptionist who agrees to take them to someone, no questions ask. Meeting with Argus, the vice-master of the Gemcutter Guild, the party learns that Kedrin of Kedrin's Fine Works was the only person he knows of that can work kyanite.
The party goes back to the streltsy prescint and the desk clerk cheerily hands them the search warrant. Warrant in hand, the party go bust down the door to Kedrin's Fine Works. Searching inside, they find Jelfi who they charm after some effort. Jelfi reveals that she was performing murders on behalf of a devil named Kerzog who promised to give her unsurpassed skill. Heading to the basement, the party confronts Kerzog and his minions, quickly blinding them. After some shenangians with grappling and counter-grappling, Kerzog's visage takes the form of the person who put Garrakas into his potato sack.
