Session XXII: Into the Tower of Light Report

General Summary

The party except for Dalvanak dive into a storage room where they meet Jareth Doggeral, a professional thief that is trapped in the lighthouse and the armor of the sun guard. Jareth is called the door by a sun guard in the hall named Brother Maynard, who informs Jareth to prepare sun guard armor for raising acolytes among the mercenaries to retaliate against the Temple of Ptah. After Brother Maynard leaves, he explains that Surek can raise the sun guard from the dead with a ritual and that the high priest usually spends his time in the audience chamber. He also explains that he and his compatriots have been there for a while and that his friends are at the gate, ready to open it for an escape. Dalvanak rejoins the party in the armory after hearing Brother Maynard and his contingent remark at the tied up guards in the barracks room. 
When he sees Khoroson, he recognizes him as the spitting image of Surek. The party poke Khoroson and ask him why Jareth would think that. Khoroson replies that he once had a brother named Surek, but doesn't anymore. Jareth realizes that the party is going to kill Surek and decides he doesn't want a part of that, but offers the party an escape route if they make it to the gate. He notes that they can take anything from the armory they may think is useful. 
The party goes down the passageway to the waiting room before the audience chamber. Dalvanak detects three sun guard in the audience chamber and Garlith tosses a hand grenade into the room. Tearing into the three and seeing Surek on his throne, the party dispatch the guards but understand that the figure on the throne is an illusion. Surek reveals that he is Khoroson's brother and vows to destroy the temple of Ptah with the Beacon of Light. 
Dalvanak detects thoughts behind the door of the northern tower and quickly unlocks the door in time to see the real Surek going up the stairs. The party gives chase with Dalvanak attempting to grapple Surek with his tentacles. The party corner Surek and he sounds the alarm, alerting nearby guards to his plight.
