Session XXXV: Wither Go the Wandering Souls Report

General Summary

Coming to the bright lights and acane glow of Selune, the party set out to find the next beholder orb. Looking about town, they find posters for Mindhome the Magnificent's Marvelous Machines. Going there, the party meet Mindhome and are introduced to his machines, acane games that you can play for a few coppers. He shows them his prize possession: the claw machine. A large claw inside a large cylander with a ball pit underneath. The balls contain a variety of prizes. Watching another person do it, the party sees that few people win. Investigating the game, Faddius and Dalvanak realize that the game is rigged as a strong magic is telekentically moving the objects. Dalvanak asks Mindhome how it works while scanning his surface thoughts and learns little, the gnomes mind curiously fortified.   Dalvanak, plunging into his purse for silver coins, doggedly attempts to try and get one that says it is a bag of holding with 100 platnum. After 164 tries, Dalvanak suceeds and Mindhome is impressed. He insists on taking the party out for a drink and says it is closing time anyway. The party take him out with Mindhome getting drunk along with some members of the party. They are able to get him to allude that there is a telekentic orb that makes it so only the most dexterous can win. He promptly passes out. The party decide to take Mindhome back to his store. While doing so, a piece of paper falls out of his pockets with the numbers 1. 2 2 .17. Dalvanak levetates up to the top of the cylinder and finds a combination lock. He enters the wrong combination at first but then the correct one. An alarm spell sounds and Mindhome bolts up, immediately sober. He begins questioning the party about what they are doing.   Dalvanak attempts to switch a lantern for the orb and fumbles. He and Mindhome go for it and Dalvanak grabs it. Mindhome gets manic about having it back and he disappears. The arcade begins to come to life, and not in a pleasant way. The party searches the arcade. Several of the games appear to be enchanted to damage those who come near.    Dodging the arcade's traps, the party explored the rest of the store, briefly encountering a mimic disguised as a stuffed animal. Krato found himself in a back room where an arcade game that had power without any connections to the wall. In examining it, Krato found it held the soul of the real Mindhome who told him that the beholder artifact took over his body.
