West Tek was THE juggernaut of the military industry. They had contracts with every nation in the UN when it was active and received an illicit amount of executive power when they were issued huge government contracts to bolster the United States military and inch closer to finding a cure for the New Plague.
This corporate giant was responsible for many advancements in warfare, but they are remembered for their heinous military application of the F.E.V. and their numerous lines of Power Armor. They were divided up into two branches, Advanced Weapons Research and the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (aka NBC) Division. Their research was often done incognito because they handled so many classified government secrets; as such, remnants of their terrifying research can be found in the most peculiar places.
The board of directors for this megacorporation was made up of ex-military generals who began to see themselves as the savior of the world. This lead to more and more questionable research decisions, eventually resulting in the end of the world. Their most remote lab was an oil rig off the coast of California. It had been repurposed into a lab and dubbed the Mariposa military base. There, the most paranoid and deluded out of their board of directors conducted every experiment they wanted, code of ethics be damned. The result was a hoard of mutated monsters, the first orcs, and a huge cache of nuclear warheads.
A volatile situation turned even worse when the US military raided the unresponsive base, finding all of the horrors within and triggering the crazed overseers to unleash their nuclear weapons in a last ditch effort to 'purify the world'.
