Session 1 - Tracking the Gnolls - Hettie's Letter Home

Hi Mum and Dad,   How’s things back home? Is the shop doing well? Miss me yet?   Refurbishing the store here is going fine. Our furthest branch of ‘Chandler’s Candles’ is up and running again. Like you always say, it doesn’t matter where you are, everyone always needs candles.   Yesterday a few of us set out on a mission to track the gnolls that might have Candace. Cornelius came too, didn’t I tell you he’s a hero? Guess what, I totally helped to find the trail, your daughter is now a master tracker! We walked for hours and hours and hours and didn’t see much, just shrubs, hills and grass. I thought adventuring would be all action, but it was kinda boring for most of the day, and my legs got so sore walking up hills. In the evening we found some neat old ruins. They used such lovely glass in the art there, so many colours, like a stunning prism of joy and light.   In the morning some gnolls came along, and we got them good. My 'SupaBright Sparklers' were so effective, you should have seen how dazzled they were! I told you my tinkering would come in handy someday. We left one alive and Diiroehn had a chat with him after loaning him his shirt for some reason. The gnoll said another clan, the Lisgores, raided Westport a lot. But he also thought it was yet another clan, the VolKori (no idea how you spell that), that actually made them all disappear. Maybe these VolKori have Candace? I wonder if they are gnolls too, I couldn’t understand them speaking in giant so I’m just guessing from Diiroehn’s summary, he doesn't say much. Oh, and the gnoll thought the giant statue by the beach is cursed, what a silly superstitious guy! Maybe he was insane and that’s why Diiroehn killed him after a while.   In the afternoon we found an old tied up gnoll, and somehow ended up friends with him? I wish I could speak giant to ask him about Candace. Well, I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of it soon enough when we pay these other gnolls a visit. I’ll keep in touch.   Love to you both,   Harriet   P.S. Yes Mum, I brought plenty of spare socks. And no, that shoulder wound didn’t scar. I’m fine here, seriously!
