Session 23 - Finding the Iltani - Shiv's Notes

General Summary

I continued to go scouting west into the jungle. Determined, I set off on my own once again, trying to follow previous leads about where to find the Iltani. I feel strongly that they may be able to help us, answer questions, perhaps even allies against the gnolls?   I came across the river mentioned by the giants and a nice spot to set down for camp. It was at this point that I decided to return to beacon to gather a group to travel with. After some discussion, we decided that it would be best to bring gifts as a peace offering so that negotiations would at least start positive. We carved many brooches and 1 nice statement necklace out of the dream stalker bones we had recovered earlier.   The setting down for the night, after the first day of travel, our alarms were triggers and we had found that our food stocks had been poisoned. Luckily we possessed the means to purify it again, but it allowed us to set up our own ambush the following night when we set down to camp again.   Again, we were confronted by a band of Vulkoori drow. This time, our conversation with them went well and we finally gained some insight as to why they seem to hate all of us much. Kevrah, the drow we spoke with, spoke about how we “firebinders” keep burning down their forest, killing their kin, we don’t respect Vulkoor or Iltan, that we know nothing of the totem gods.   She claimed that we had committed a great atrocity against them, trapped them in a hall and burned it to the ground, whilst many of her kin were trapped inside. I can’t think as to why anyone would be so cruel. We managed to convince her that we had no knowledge of the past, of the things the “fire binders” had done to them, told her we wanted to learn, we wanted to respect them.   Eventually, she came around and invited us to the Vulkoori gathering, set to occur in 2-3 weeks time. She told us if we wanted to make peace, or at least try to begin to repair the relationship, we should go there. The way she spoke to us about the “firebinders” indicated that they are still here on the Island.   We allowed her to leave with her and gave her one of the brooches we had made. She seemed to appreciate the sentiment. I wonder if perhaps the giant curse can affect more then just giants. Perhaps living in beacon could cause you to fall to the same madness. Perhaps over time, they began to think that they were also Sulat. This could explain why they went after the drow.   I spent that evening, giving the rest of the group a lesson about the drow totem gods, imparting all that I know. That evening, we saw in the sky streaks of flame with something in front. Perhaps a falling airship?
