Shivs notes from the Iltani Expedition "Rule Number One: Mafaldine is not allowed to talk to strangers anymore
I and a few others from the town ventured out into the rainforest again, this time in search of the Iltani. We had heard they were more friendly than the Vulkoori and at least more open to trade with outsiders.
We followed the familiar pathways of the rainforest. I had come this way a few times now, to scout. Following the leads from Maetika, we found the river and followed it north.
Along the way, we came across an ambush site. We have finally met these "firebinders" we had heard so much about. They appeared to have ambushed a drow group travelling, killed all the adults and were in the process of kidnapping some drow children.
We killed one, but the rest of the group ran away. After taking stock, we took a few moments to examine some notes left behind on the body of the fallen sulatar, who was a drow, but did not have any markings on their body.
It appears that the sulatar are some kind of fire worshipping group who believe they are bringing civilisation to the savages in the forest. I don't know why they would kidnap children.
We managed to return the children back to their village which had been burnt by the sulatar but there was one survivor who happened to be the children's uncle. After an awkward exchange, the children were returned and we went on our way.
We set off once again to find the Iltani and doubled back the way we came. Eventually, we did find them and were granted an audience with the Moonlight Glinting on Clean River Water clan, Trista.
We had a lengthy conversation with her, she seemed to want to deem if we were trustworthy. She asked me why I was not with my clan. I revealed my past to the group. She told us that the Vulkoori would not accept a kin killer but since I had been shown favour by Ruvern, we could play it that way. Say that we have been favoured by him, that we do in fact follow the ways of the totems. This could be a way of brokering peace.
She told of us of a blowhole down south. It is said that if one jumps into the cave if you are truly liked by him, you come out alive if not...you don't.
The claw of vulkoor is said to be appearing soon. We have been invited. It appears I need to have a swim before then. I am going to need some help.
