Spellgrip Chains

A set of fine silver chains, threaded between several thin, engraved silver bangles designed to be worn on the wrist and up one arm, all adorned with leaping fire and studded with small garnets. When concentrating, a field of energy flows down to shield the wearer's hand for a brief moment, shrouding it in magic. When targeted by a ranged spell attack that incorporates some form of spell projectile, beam or energy, the wearer may attempt to catch and deflect the spell as a reaction. When you do so, the damage taken from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier. If you reduce the damage to zero, no other effects of the spell are applied to you. If the wearer has the Deflect Missiles monk ability, they may instead activate Deflect Missiles, treating the ranged spell attack as if it were a ranged weapon attack. If the damage is reduced to zero, you take no other effects from the spell, and if a ki point is spent to deflect the spell at a new target, it still counts as a 20/60 ft. ranged monk weapon attack made with proficiency, but dealing the same damage type as the deflected spell. After using the chains to deflect a spell, they cannot be used again for 1 minute.
