Vadalia's Eye - Awakened
Wondrous Item – legendary – requires attunement by a non-evil creature
A large chip of uncut emerald set in an amulet of bone, resting on the body of a great elven liberator and scout, architect of the Greenway. Exposed to the energies of Thelanis, the Feywild for millennia, it has gained power and knowledge. Vadalia’s Eye is a sentient item, containing some of the memories of the long-dead Vadalia the Liberator. In its awakened state, it can offer fragmented thoughts and limited memory if spoken to directly, communicating mostly through visions overlaid onto the world. Attunement: While attuned to the item, the wearer gains +2 to their saving throws. Spellcasting: An attuned creature may cast the spells zephyr strike, speak with dead and freedom of movement, using the amulet in place of the material component. After doing so, each spell cannot be cast again in this way until the wearer has completed a long rest. Living Past: A creature wearing the Eye may spend 1 minute in concentration, as if casting a spell, and staying within a fixed location. At the end of the minute, they see a vision of that location’s past – the most emotionally resonant moment which happened there, fading in clarity and duration the longer ago it happened. A location or creature which was protected from divination magic cannot be seen in this way. After using this property, it cannot be used again until the next dawn. Exultation: The Eye can be further awakened by carrying out a task strongly aligned to Vadalia's wishes, liberating a large number of people, defeating an oppressive, overwhelming power, or otherwise striking a blow in the name of freedom and equality.
