Wondrous item - amulet - very rare

A small bone carving of a resplendent winged serpent on a gold chain, inlaid with opal and gold wire. The eyes seem to flash with colour when the light catches them just right, and a sense of deep peace and safety emanates from the carving.
Each day at dawn, the amulet casts death ward on the creature wearing it. If unattended, it instead casts it on the first creature to touch the ward. 
While you continue to wear the amulet, the death ward it casts does not expire, remaining active until it is used or dispelled.
