The West Marches game is a style of D&D that is the diametric opposite of the traditional weekly game: sessions are scheduled by the players, each session’s party is made up of a different group of players from a pool of 15 to 20, and there is no regular plot – the players decide what plot threads they want to pull and the story advances towards the threads they pull. This game will be run as a sandbox, set in the region of Stormshore in Nerath. The adventure runs on the premise that you are on the edge of civilization and must venture into the wilds to seek adventure and glory! All new characters will start at level 3. I use XP levelling and you will receive experience for overcoming combat encounters, roleplaying through situations, and discovering locations; not just killing bad guys. Each character will track XP individually, so your character will advance naturally as you play more sessions. I also keep detailed track of time in the campaign as events will move forward behind the scenes as time goes on. Each in-game week you will receive one Downtime Action (regardless of whether you adventure or not) and you can use this to carouse, research, or gain special abilities that can be used during adventures.
