glyph wax

Glyph wax is a magically-enchanted wax used to inscribe magical runes and glyphs into objects. Typically, it is used to draw or write the desired spell marks onto a surface and is then sealed into the final material with mundane sealants or finishing polishes. It is frequently found molded into a stick or crayon-like shape to allow the user to more easily write and draw with it.   In addition to being used to scribe magical runes, glyph wax can be used as a sealing wax for letters and documents which resists attempts to circumvent a wax seal. Tricks to remove a common wax seal, such as warming the seal until it can be opened and resealed without harm leave glyph wax warped and twisted, often changing the color of the wax or causing malformations to any crest which will alert the proper recipient to the deception.

Manufacturing process

The beeswax is melted in the small cauldron over medium heat, maintained just above its melting point while the rest of the spell is cast. While grinding the rosemary leaves into a fine powder in the mortar, the caster chants a scripting and sealing spell. The powdered leaves are poured into the melted wax and stirred until fully incorporated and five drops of lavender oil are added and mixed. A secondary potency spell is chanting while stirring the resulting mixture for half a minute-glass and then the wax is poured into the wax molds. The wax is left to harden over night and must be kept in a cool, dry place to avoid softening which will reduce the spells' potency.

Significance

One of the simplest methods for using magic known on the continent. Even the magi-phobic Northern Chereladians and Zlorans are familiar with glyph wax and its uses.
