Alma Aldebaran
The youngest of the Aldebaran Clan, Alma spent her early years secluded in the Great Forest in the South. On occasion wandering hunters or merchants would come across their hamlet, and it was from these rare travellers that the youth first learned more of the wider world. From one such explorer came stories of the ancient civilizations which thrived before the Time of Darkness, their secrets lost to the ages. Such tales sparked a curiosity in the young gnome, one which only grew as the years passed.
Though she was eager to see the wider world, such journeys were oft deemed foolhardy. However, her family had an old tradition where one may go into the world in order to serve the will of the spirits of the realm. In their early 30’s she claimed to receive a prophetic vision instructing her to take a pilgrimage, and for the first time set off into new lands.
After travelling south beyond the edges of the woods and into the Westfall Empire, the gnome came across a remote monastery, a library of great renown. Upon explaining her purpose and offering herself up to the order, Alma became a scholar of the Alcove under the tutelage of Elder Corwin, the Master of Antiquities. For six years the gnome pored over books seeking answers to age old quandaries, finding a wealth of information which oft left her with more questions. Eventually, at her teacher’s suggestion, she made a map of the various ruins and tombs which might hold information on the pre-Empire world, and set out to explore these forgotten places. What artifacts and findings she uncovered were passed along to her colleagues at the Alcove.
In recent months, the cleric discovered through her research and connection to Ioun that there are signs that a great cataclysm may befall the Empire in the near future, one which bears similarities to the Time of Darkness. Sensing the urgency of this dilemma, Alma teamed up with a number of fellow scholars to gather information on this impending threat, reviewing texts and excavating abandoned sites in search of answers. After their most recent findings at the site near Frigera, Alma decided to travel north to speak with the Archmage Axiom, hoping the gnome can shed light on the runes found there.
