Elder Corwin

A human sage and Master of Antiquities at the Alcove. Specialties include early Empire societies and their architecture, particular those of dwarvish origin. Hunched frame, olive skin, wispy grey hair with a bald spot, blue eyes, deep jowls/ wrinkles. Corwin’s a practical, somber sort of fellow, but not unkind. While he's not as spry as he once was (In mind or body), the man still has his wits about him. He's a packrat (Something his student picked up from him), and can't bear to discard a good book. The man's also a big tea/coffee drinker, and sometimes Alma sends packages containing different blends. Alma sees Corwin as both a teacher and grandfather-like figure. She cares deeply for her old mentor (Perhaps puts him on a pedestal), and values his opinions/ praise above all others. The sage is more formal, but does have a fondness for his pupil. Privately he doesn’t think Alma’s suited to be a historian, believing she lacks the conviction/ discipline needed, but is hesitant to state it outright. Hence, Corwin’s tried nudging her in other directions, such as doing fieldwork outside the Alcove.

Letter written by Alma to the Professor To Elder Corwin: Dear Professor, how are you doing? Hopefully this letter finds you in good spirits. I got your message a few weeks back- you have my gratitude, as your wisdom and support are always appreciated. I must offer my most sincere apologies for the tardy reply. Since our excavation at the site, a plethora of developments both enlightening and worrisome have come to pass, and the past several days have been quite a blur. I’m in Feratt now, having journeyed north to speak to Axiom as you’d previously suggested. He’s a peculiar fellow (And a tad discourteous, I might add), but his reputation as a savant is well-earned. He’s been able to confirm my suspicions regarding the star-charts, yet as I dig deeper, the answers inevitably lead to more questions, the potential ramifications all the more ominous… I’ll wait until I’ve more definitive evidence before sharing my hypotheses however. I’m planning to go onwards to the new crash site near Glomspitz- I hope it will prove an elucidating endeavour. Please do not trouble yourself with my well-being: all is well at this time. I’ve found a group of adventuring folk to travel with along the road- they are an eccentric bunch in their own respects (A couple being potentially unsavoury in nature), but they tolerate my company, and it is oft safer to travel in groups these days. From there I may continue onto Hailhart, but will advise you on future plans when possible. Sending you well wishes, Your humble pupil, Alma
