The World of Etroah

  Geography
The Great Inland Sea is the central aspect of the known world, and is full of single islands and archipelagos
Deserts cover the lands East of the Great Inland Sea
Jungle covers the lands South of the Great Inland Sea
Plains cover the lands West of the Great Inland Sea
Varangia is a Kingdom, that covers the Northern lands
Varangia is the only current Kingdom in the known world, the other power centers are either single large city
states with influence on surrounding peoples (who are often nomads) or a diffuse set of settlements that band together in some degree of support & alliance.

  Trade hubs/centers of large Urban populations
The City of Blades – Eastern shore of the Great Inland Sea, in the Desert (Oldest)
The Lush Pit – Southern shore of the Great Inland Sea, border of Jungles & Plains (Exotic)
Norhaven – Northern shore of the Great Inland Sea, middle of Varangia’s coast (Hardy)

Distances The world is very large, with long distances to travel.
It takes 2 months to sail across the Great Inland Sea East to West
It takes 4 months to sail across the Great Inland Sea North to West
Land trade caravans travel both sides of the Great Inland Sea, going North to South, they leave in early Spring and arrive in late Autumn. They then winter over in that City, then return traveling the other side of the sea. Races
All Races are spread everywhere across the world, and its not unusual to see any race somewhere.
The City of Blades is unique in that it welcomes Monster residents & enforces their rights.
Humanoids are acknowledged everywhere and are no more inherently evil than humans, but they are more easily swayed by evil influences maybe. In the East and South Humanoids are more equal in society. In the North and West they are considered lower tiers of society normally and there tend to be more raiding/evil bands on the outskirts of the civilized (known) world
  Varangia
Northern Kingdom – rolling hills rising to alpine forested foothills and into surrounding barrier Mountain ranges to the North, NE & NW. It is a land of rivers, streams, marshes & bogs. Fog and mist are common in spring and autumn, it is cold during the winter and hot (and bug filled) during the summer. The shore of the Great Inland Sea is the most pleasant land with its warmer breeze keeping it more pleasant all year round. During the summer the alpine foothills and mountains can offer respite from the swarms of bugs but not without other possible consequences.
Norhaven is the only large city and is the hub of all trade in and out of the country. Across the rest of the Kingdom small scattered towns, villages and hamlets are scattered. Nobles own the land but often spend a significant time in Norhaven.
Towns may be situated on trade routes/roads around the Kingdom. On the borders, in the mountains are Forts (roughly the size of towns) where the majority of the army is stationed, protecting and patrolling against incursions and raids from beyond the borders. Travel is by, foot, beast of burden or with a caravan/cart along roads.
