The Weirdings

An area of magical floating islands in the bay between Slomvad and Verdant.   Underneath the islands is a vortex in the sea causing extremely treacherous currents all through the area.  Ships passing through have to hug the coast or risk destruction.  
Few people have ever ventured onto the island.  Of those wizards and scientists who have made the treacherous voyage, few have returned to tell their taie.  There are writings concerning elemental magic being concentrated around the island which is rumored to be inhabited by beings of pure elemental nature.   Occasionally sentient Ganasi humanoids will turn up in the local vicinity, but they are always confused about their origins.
