Dendrah's Cube

A constellation visible in the Night Sky between Pony Night and the Dendrah Games, Dendrah's Cube contains the bright stars known to us as Aldebaran, Betelgeuze and Sirius.

Geography

A fixture of the winter sky over Westlo, Dendrah's Cube is the name given to a constellation of bright stars. It is more or less collocated with the right side of Orion in our sky.

History

The earliest reference to this constellation comes in the History of the People of Westlo, which can be consulted in the Academia in Jadehill. In this book, written around the year 300, the anonymous author records that:
while the lesser races see in their stars the image of a base hunter and in this find a subject suitable for their aspiration, our nobler minds discern instead the true abstraction of the deity in the form of her Cube. It is meet, therefore, that we teach the youth before the Pony Altar to look to the sky at night and see the true lines of the deity, that he might proclaim "Behold, Dendrah's Cube" and give the lie to the heathen!
From this excerpt, we are given to understand that there was a tension between people who saw the 'base hunter' (likely to be Orion) and those who saw Dendrah's Cube.   The appearance of Dendrah's Cube in the sky roughly coincides with Pony Night (which may be the 'Pony Altar' referred to in the above quote), and its disappearance with the early spring Dendrach Games. This must have made the constellation of particular importance to the Dendrah-worshipping humans of the period.
